Honey and Almond Anointing

So God created humankind in his image, In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1.27

We can reduce toxic chemicals in our daily lives. Even skin care productscarry toxins! The Bible often tells us of different types of essential oils which we can use without fear of skin damage, science has discovered others for our convenience.

Review of ingredients in Tree Hut Almond & Honey Shea body butter from the Environmental Working Group database:

I viewed each ingredient or Googled on the web for more data and all ingredients are low to moderate hazard and often food grade ingredients.

The main ingredient is shee butter: Butyrospermum Parkii:
Shea butter extract (manteca de karite' more shea butter) is found indigenous to Africa: Mali, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Togo, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Burkina Faso, and Uganda. Parkii species is named for a Scottish explorer Mungo Park who saw the tree in Senegal. Africa shee is found wild also in Benin, Central African Republic, Central African Republic, Chad, Ethiopia, Niger, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Guinea. Likewise  the local offer Beurra de karite, handmade shea butter; shea butter is grown on ground which has no pesticides [Ghanian cooperative]!

Vitellaria paradoxa

Tree Hut Shea Body Butter, Almond & Honey

PEG-100 stearate is questionable based on how it is used, rated a moderate hazard; not safe for use on injured or damaged skin. So I think it might still be all right for a bruise but not an open wound. You would need pure shee butter for that with nothing added.
PEG-8 beeswax is not safe for injured or damaged skin either.
Polysorbate 70 Isn't safe on damage or injured skin.
Laureth-4 is a strong irritant around the eyes, lungs or skin around the eyes and lungs. There seems to be a pattern of ingredients that mixed with the Shee butter in manfacturing standards that could be a problem. Phenoxyethanol is another manfacturing concern in that it is irritating to the skin, eyes and lungs. Diazolidinyl urea is a know skin irritant as well, safe for cosmetics in limited forms; strict controls in manfacturing needed for worker and consumer. BHT has a moderate rating of five on a scale of three to six. The last objection is
Lanolin a product of oil glands of sheep, however it is extracted from their wool.  Overall the criticism is based on manfacturing and mixtures to preserve and formulate the shee butter.

RECIPES

Honey Tonic
Apply one to two drops of honey on a wet palm and massage onto face. Do not rinse. Pat dry. Honey is not only good to eat, it was prized in the Biblical days and even used as an offering to the LORD. Today we know that honey is a healthy choice for sweetening, and many skin care experts believe it can nourish the skin and plump up fine lines. The secret is to use only one or two drops, on a very wet palm, and pat delicately into your skin.

Softening Body Oil
Before taking a shower, brush your skin gently. This exfoliating will stimulate blood circulation and aid in skin absorption. For best absorption, apply the body oil while your skin is still moist. This combination is ideal for skin that has been exposed to too much sun or for extra dry areas, such as heels and elbows.
1 cup (237 ml) sweet almond oil
1/2 cup (118 ml) jojoba or hazlenut oil (or combination of the two)
2 tablespoons (30 ml) apricot kernel oil
Essential oil (optional)
Combine the oils in a sealed bottle and gently turn it several times to mix. Apply as needed.

Cush

Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. A song.
1 He has founded his city on the holy mountain.
2 The LORD loves the gates of Zion
more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are said of you,
   city of God:
4 “I will record Rahab and Babylon
   among those who acknowledge me—
Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush—
and will say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’”
5 Indeed, of Zion it will be said,
“This one and that one were born in her,
and the Most High himself will establish her.”
6 The LORD will write in the register of the peoples:
“This one was born in Zion.”
7 As they make music they will sing,
“All my fountains are in you.”

Cush has a long standing tradition in the Hebrew Bible. From Genesis where it as listed as a river of paradise. Cush is also known as Ethiopia, Nubia or Abyssinia! Easton's Bible Dictionary also claims that ancient Egypt referred to Cush as Kesh! Kush is another way Cush is spelled. Moses was to have had a blood ceremony with a Cushite where he was known as a bridegroom of blood!

Cush warred with others and known to be a mighty army!

Woe to the land of whirring wings[a]
    along the rivers of Cush,[b]
which sends envoys by sea
in papyrus boats over the water.

Go, swift messengers,
to a people tall and smooth-skinned,
to a people feared far and wide,
an aggressive nation of strange speech,
whose land is divided by rivers.

Cush was from the family of Ham and for African American Gentiles under a curse...

Cush [Cŭsh]—black or ethiopia.
  1. Eldest son of Ham and grandson of Noah and founder of a tribal family (Gen. 10:6-8; 1 Chron. 1:8-10). Also the name of the land where the Cushites dwelt (Isa. 11:11; 18:1). Cushite is translated Ethiopian.
  2. A Benjamite, and enemy of David. (See Fausset’s dictionary).

The King of Gondor was an Ethiopian king whose Bible is still found today in museums with posters for those who want to show the Afracentric profile.

Blessings!
